On Tuesday, with a nearly 2 to 1 victory, Millie Nelson(642) retained her seat on the Littleton School Board, defeating Ralph Hodgman(303). Going unchallenged, the Littleton Town Moderator Gerald Winn was also reelected for his role for 2018. He will serve as school board moderator for another year. Mr. Winn has served as Moderator in the town of Littleton for over 50 years.

School board Clerk Patty Drapeau, and Treasurer Gerald Lesage, both of whom ran unopposed, also won. There were a handful of write-in votes in opposition of each of the candidates in all of the categories, however, the total was less than 10 for each position.

Passing all but one

Voters passed nearly all of the initiatives presented by the School Board. Article 5, the professional staff collective bargaining agreement, failed to receive a majority vote therefore it did not pass. Had the Article passed the agreement would have had an estimated increase of $178,389 in fiscal year 2019. The final vote count was 426 for and 638 against. However, the collective bargaining agreement for support staff did pass. This will allow for a raise in salaries estimated around $29,657 in fiscal year 2019. In addition, the two capital reserve fund articles, Article 7 & Article 8, also passed.

The voting results were provided courtesy of the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent on 3/15/18 and are available in full here.
