Mascoma Donates to GNTV

Bank Approves Equipment Donation Request

The Mascoma Bank Sponsorship and Donation Committee has approved a request from Granite North Television in the amount of $2,000 for equipment funding and live-streaming assistance. Our goal at GNTV is to begin offering more live streaming coverage of events in the months to come. The new gear and services this funding provides will help make that goal possible.

Mascoma Bank has a long history of philanthropy in the community. Since the beginning, it has been their commitment to give back to the cities and towns where they live and work. From municipalities to local not-for-profit organizations of every stripe, the Bank’s philanthropic efforts have always been geared towards strengthening communities. Each year, the Bank and the Mascoma Bank Foundation donate more than $1 million to hundreds of area organizations.

How It’ll Help

GNTV Executive Director Chad Fillion says, “In these days of limited cable access, cord-cutting, and satellite television, providing viewers an opportunity to view our shows in a streaming format online is paramount to our continued success. With this funding, we will be able to provide coverage of events to our current viewership. We can also reach a wider audience and help meet our mission statement of providing local news and information throughout the North Country.”

Additional cameras will allow Granite North to provide simultaneous coverage in multiple locations, regionally, as needed. Many select board meetings, events, and programs in the North Country happen on the same days and times.

These new devices will provide GNTV and its crew the tools it needs to be in those various locations. As well as cover the events for our viewers.

The live streaming services and video-on-demand coverage of local events will bring original programming, meetings and events live into more homes. This will help GNTV meet its goal as a regional news and information provider.

With the support of organizations such as Mascoma, GNTV can deliver quality broadcasts and video-on-demand. By partnering with streaming distribution networks, it can offer live streaming services online, free of charge. It will provide a model to share locally produced commercial content from local organizations.
