Spectrum to move our channel to 1300’s

Starting October 9th “Channel 2” is now available on 1301 and 1302

tv channel communication towerWith a new push for change from Charter/Spectrum they will move to a “digital only” offering. The removal of traditional channel numbers we’ve known for years, makes room for new channels. A whole host of digital “subchannels” could become available in time.

Though the move from the conventionally known numbers, and our beloved home on dial positions channel 2 and 21, will become a thing of the past, the new offering are supposed to provide added customer benefits. According to Shelly Winchenbach in a recent email from Spectrum/Charter “[T]his fall, Spectrum is upgrading its entire channel lineup to a digital-only signal. This change will allow Spectrum to deliver more channels, better picture and sound quality as well as increased Internet speeds to customers.” She continues on, explaining that “As part of this nationwide project, Spectrum will be relocating the Public, Educational and Governmental (PEG) access channels to the 1300s section of the channel line-up. Multiple notifications will be sent to the municipalities and customers outlining the details of this project, what’s needed, and the timeline for the changes.”

For you the customer

The new station will, of course, be carried in the basic service tier. However, the caveat is that customers will be required to have a Spectrum Receiver on each TV.  If you have an existing set-top-box, digital transport adapter (DTA), or retail device with a CableCARD on each TV, you will be unaffected by this change.  Otherwise, to order your Spectrum Receiver(s), please go to Spectrum.com/digitalnow or call 1-844-278-3409 and Charter will ship a self-installation kit directly to your home at no additional cost.

You can also visit the Littleton Office to pick up your equipment. Customers are eligible to receive a converter at no additional charge for a limited period of time. Also, you will lose the ability to view channels if you don’t have Spectrum equipment.

Educate and inform

We want to let you know our station isn’t going anywhere. Though the channel number will change, and most likely already simulcast on 1301 and/or 1302, the station you know will not be gone. In fact, this ditigal only push may coincide with our recent rebranding quite nicely. For a long time the community has known the station as “Channel 2” or “Littleton TV”. As we embark on our new regional initiative to serve the North Country, channel “2” is old thinking.

We invite you to switch over to 1301 today. Head over and view the station in it’s new home to prepare for the upcoming transition. As much as we would like to stay where we are, sometimes change is good. We embrace the opportunity to see how the new lineup will help us with a digital signal moving forward. As always, we thank you for your support.

Unfortunately, times get difficult when critical components within our work flow need servicing. This is one of those times. Currently our playback server is aged beyond repair. If it fails, the station will go dark. We need to replace this expensive component before we loose our ability to broadcast. You can read more about our mission on our GoFundMe page. Take a moment, if you could, and help us to continue to serve our community with our news, and coverage.
