Nominations Requested for Public Safety Foundation Awards

The North Country Public Safety Foundation will host its 11th annual dinner and awards ceremony on Friday, October 26th at the Mt. Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods. Winners will be honored for their outstanding service to their community. The Public Safety fields include Fire Service, Law Enforcement, Fish and Game, and Emergency Responders. Award recipients and their families, will be guests of the Foundation for dinner and the ceremony.

The Foundation is currently accepting nominations for the awards. The nominees may currently be or have been members of a Fire Department, Law Enforcement, Fish and Game, Emergency Rescue. This includes Search and Rescue Operations in Coos or Grafton counties. It is important to stress the award is not for one particular heroic incident. It’s a Lifetime Achievement Award for their participation and endeavors in their community throughout the years.

About NCPSF

When Sugar Hill Police Chief, Jose Pequeno, was seriously wounded while serving in Iraq, many concerned residents established the “Bring Jose Home” project. They organized the construction of a new handicap accessible home and raised extra funds to help support Jose and his family.

The North Country Public Service Foundation was established when it was realized the knowledge gained and the resources created could help other first responders and their families. The Foundation is “dedicated to the support of public safety officers and their families in times of need, by providing expertise and structure to community relief efforts and fundraising.”

A combined awards ceremony and fundraiser is held at the Mt. Washington Hotel each fall. Many generous sponsors purchase tables for the dinner, advertisements in the ceremony booklet and make other donations. The event concludes with the presentation of the awards.

Nominations should be mailed to NCPSF, PO Box 239, Franconia, NH 03580. The deadline is Tuesday, August 21st. If you have any questions email them to chief@sugarhillfd.org or call 603-494-1491.
