As Spring arrives it pumps energy down onto Earth and everything comes back to life. Flowers grow, sap flows, animals come out of hibernation. And sometimes those animals bring instruments. This is clearly evident should you swing into the Cottage street studios of North Country Community Radio on Sunday afternoons. With a fiery new brand designed by Angel Larcom, a host of eclectic tunes played by a cadre of characters, NCCR has never been more alive.

New show, new vision

Previously known as “Audiofile” the reimagined studio show now features a rotation of artists, DJs, performing musicians and videographers. The station’s website’s describes the show as “a series of video broadcasts of live in-studio performances at North Country Community Radio. Each Sunday, musical acts perform live on-air at NCCR, are interviewed and filmed. These broadcasts are available online at YouTube and at multiple community access television stations in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New Jersey.

When speaking with Corey Callaway, the station’s Manager, she says “the rotating videographers, as well as DJ’s [gives] more people opportunities.” She also stated that there would be multiple individuals working on editing the series to help share the project. Doing so makes the adventure a truly community endeavor. With scheduled performances going out into June, the show has plenty of energy to send us headlong into Summer.

Local performer Adam Reczek

Last week the studio hosted Adam Reczek for a solo acoustic performance. Dual DJ’s Caleb Bonilla and Maker Manning sat with Adam for a short interview and a full set of music. Rounding out the trinity of those involved was Asher Solomon who filmed the afternoon’s performance. Adam is the founder of the Music on the Noosuc music festival that debuted last July in Littleton. This year he is planning to return with the event again. Though the details are still in development, the day is shaping up to be a full music event.

In from Hartford

This week the NCCR live show hosted the Hartford group O’K and the Night Crew. The Trio describes themselves on their Facebook page as B”a powerful trio whose blend of riff rock and blues is getting attention. Their unique yet familiar sound delivers live performances flooded with tasty righteous jams”. Listening to the performance harkens up the fuzzy guitar sound of the seventies and is sure to please any rocker’s ears.

The live performance airs on WZNC-LP 99.9 FM every Sunday from 2-4pm. Currently, Channel 2 is also airing the performances on a daily basis in the 7:00 pm time slot. Performances are also available on the North Country Community Radio website.
